Braxton County Resident Completes Student Teaching for Glenville State College

Jessica Smarr of Sutton, West Virginia has completed her student teaching at Glenville State College (GSC). She completed her student teaching in Early Education (PreK-K) and Elementary Education (K-6) at Burnsville Elementary School with Joyce Stump and in Multi-Categorical Special Education (K-6) at Robert L. Bland Middle School as a Clinical Teacher of Record with mentor Amber Richards. Dr. Shelly Ratliff and Dr. Will Vann were her GSC supervisors. She and her husband Nathan have three children, Andrew, Brehana, and Austin.
Senior teacher education students take part in an internship during their final semester at GSC.
At the conclusion of their internship students must complete a presentation illustrating their mastery of the Interstate New Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards as well as the standards of their particular area of study.
